You go, girl!

Good for you, Elizabeth Edwards. I'm not making a judgment call on anybody's intentions. I'll leave that to the self-righteous know-it-alls who prefer spewing venom to solving problems.

But good for you. You are showing us that you can live while you're alive. If it were me, I'd do the same. The comments about stress being bad for recovery? True enough. As I see it, keeping my spouse from doing what he believes to be important would also be stressful, especially if I, too, believed it was important.

Yes she demonstrated strength and resiliency. We'll know more around April 15th about his candidacy when the first major reports come in on fund raising by all the candidates.

While, in my view, it was good to see them both so supportive of each other there were two death knell notes in the press conference for his campaign. (1) When she indicated her rib broke when he hugged her; and (2) when he said that no matter what else would be going on in his campaign for the Democratic Party nomination he would be there for her and with her. With the power vested in the U.S. Presidency I believe voters will respect him for his spousal commitment and reject him (rightfully so) because the rest of the world cannot afford to go on hold based on her health issues.

I don't know the details of her illness. However, as her doctor said when interviewed, there are other illnesses that are managed, like diabetes, and you simply accept you'll be on one form of therapy or another for the rest of your life, and you may have many good years ahead of you.

I imagine you're right about voters rejecting him because of that unknown, but that seems a bit premature to me.

He'll likely be dropping out soon quite independent of her bone cancer. The March 31st deadline for campaign donations for the first quarter (with results to be made public by April 15th) will show him in big trouble and very likely unable to must the kind of marketing required to make an impact in Florida next January and California on Feb. 5th.

On the side I really don't think America is ready to have a Presidential couple who actually love each other and communicat openly and honestly with their fellow citizens.

Not for 2008, but if Strickland can hang tough and smart in Ohio as governor, he might be one to watch.
